Richi Hussein Millner, 42, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, was shot and killed in early March 2021 at a WoodSpring Suites motel in Spartanburg County after he went to confront an ex-girlfriend who was staying there with another man. Deputies say Millner forced entry into the motel room and an altercation began; Millner allegedly assaulted the other man and was then shot multiple times. The coroner attributed his death to gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and torso.

The two people in the room told investigators they were armed and shot Millner in self-defense, and the ex-girlfriend reported that Millner had been stalking her. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office concluded there was no probable cause to charge either person; the death was ruled a justifiable homicide and no arrests were made. Millner was a father of three daughters and was described by his family as a devoted parent.
