Gabriel Deshawn Brisbon, 22, was last seen by family on January 31, 2021, at the Winnfield West Apartments in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Family reported him missing on February 2, and on February 5 his body was found in an abandoned mobile home lot off U.S. 321. Brisbon had been shot multiple times; his vehicle was later located abandoned in Columbia.

Investigators identified two people of interest, Osman Shabazz Jr. and Sylvia Bacon-Scott, and warned they were armed and dangerous and traveling with a 5-month-old infant. The pair were located and arrested in Columbia on February 11, 2021. Osman Shareef Shabazz Jr. faced murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and grand larceny charges; a jury convicted him of murder on September 29, 2022, and he received a life sentence plus five-year terms on the related counts. Sylvia Bacon-Scott and a minor were also charged in connection with Brisbon’s death and legal proceedings for her are ongoing.
