Peter E. Franco, 28, was killed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the early hours of January 2, 2021. A Long Island native who worked as a server at the Backyard Sports Bar and Grill, he was driving home from his shift when his vehicle was struck by gunfire near the stretch of Highway 17 known as Restaurant Row. Officers found him in the car; the coroner ruled his death a homicide from a gunshot wound.

Reports say Peter was believed to be an innocent bystander caught in crossfire during a violent dispute. The Horry County Police Department opened an investigation and appealed for information. No arrests or suspect identifications have been publicly announced, and the case has since grown cold.
