Eliajah LaMont Samuel, 26, was shot in the early morning hours of December 5, 2020, at the Canterbury Apartments in the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 4:45 a.m., found Samuel with gunshot wounds and he later died at a local hospital. He did not live at the complex.

Family described Samuel as a great father who was always smiling, skilled at handiwork and hoping to start a business selling televisions. Initial reports said police searched surveillance footage showing a person fleeing the scene and appealed for public help.
