McKenzie Corley Harley Jr was 21 when he was last seen on November 5, 2020, in the Blackville, South Carolina area. His family reported him missing after he stopped communicating and his phone reportedly went straight to voicemail; a relative told his mother they feared he had been harmed in neighboring Aiken County and concealed.

On November 12, 2020, at about 2:50 p.m., Harley’s body was found near 5540 Highway 78 in Blackville. The Barnwell County Coroner’s Office, with Coroner Lloyd Ward assuming jurisdiction, identified him by fingerprints. An autopsy found a fatal gunshot wound and the death was ruled a homicide. The Blackville Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division processed the scene and opened a criminal investigation.
