On the morning of September 3, 2020, 26-year-old Nathan Gray was killed in a drive-by shooting on R Street in Anderson, South Carolina. Multiple rounds struck a home where Gray was present; he was fatally wounded and three other people were shot. Two of the wounded were taken to a local medical center with non-life-threatening injuries and a third declined treatment at the scene.

Investigators from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office concluded the participants likely knew one another rather than the shooting being random. Detectives say video evidence and witness statements tied a vehicle used in the attack to Lytavius Niree Richardson, who was arrested and booked into the Anderson County Detention Center. Richardson was charged with murder in Gray’s death, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
