Chad Nicholas Westbury, 39, was shot and killed on the evening of July 12, 2020, after an altercation outside a Walgreens on Savannah Highway in Johns Island, South Carolina. He was found unresponsive about half a mile from the scene at roughly 9 p.m. and was pronounced dead. Westbury was a father of three boys who worked in construction as a craftsman and mechanic.

Investigators asked the public about a silver or tan extended-cab pickup seen in the area at the time. Witnesses described two men in the truck: a white male in his late teens or early 20s with a bowl haircut, and a Hispanic male who was armed with a handgun. On August 10, 2020, authorities announced an arrest: a 16-year-old male was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. The Sheriff’s Office said the probe was ongoing to determine whether other people were involved.

If anyone has information about the pickup, the occupants, or the events that night, please share what is known.
