On the evening of Monday, April 20, 2020, 28-year-old Kiara A. Richbow was at her Hopkins, South Partridge Circle home with her two young daughters, her 76-year-old grandmother Sarah Mae Richbow, and a niece when her former partner, Dontrell Henry Rufus, arrived uninvited. Rufus began shouting at the front door, forced his way into the house after a cousin tried to calm him, and opened fire. Kiara was shot twice in the upper body and taken to a local hospital; she died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
The shooting also struck Kiara’s grandmother, Sarah Mae Richbow, who sustained an upper-body gunshot wound and later died. Rufus fled the scene, abandoning his truck. A manhunt followed and deputies arrested him the next morning on Broad River Road after a report of a suspicious person. He was charged with two counts of murder and one count of first-degree burglary.
Who knew Kiara or her family and can share information about her, the household, or the events that night?
