Rasham Eugene Walker, 32, was found dead in his Walker Avenue residence in Laurens, South Carolina on January 23, 2020. The coroner ruled his death a homicide after investigators determined he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds; the shooting occurred at about 3 a.m.
Investigators arrested two people in connection with the killing. Twenty-six-year-old Brandy Nichole Standridge was charged with murder after a warrant alleged she shot Walker multiple times in the head and body; she was held without bond at the Johnson Detention Center. A separate suspect, 30-year-old Hakeem Evans, was sought by Mauldin officers and pursued at high speed; he allegedly carjacked a vehicle during the chase, which reached over 100 miles per hour. The chase ended in Spartanburg County where Evans abandoned the stolen car, ran into woods, and was later found hiding in a creek and taken into custody. He faced multiple charges including murder in connection with Walker’s death.
