On the evening of December 19, 2019, 15-year-old Kerolos Mina Zaky drove to the Kingswood neighborhood in Piedmont, South Carolina, after giving a ride to several people from a local gas station. He planned to drop them off at a home on Mansion Circle, but some passengers allegedly attacked him in what investigators later described as an attempted robbery. A firearm was discharged during the struggle and Kerolos was found inside his car, having died from a gunshot wound shortly before 8:00 p.m.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigation resulted in arrests of five people charged with murder, armed robbery, and criminal conspiracy: Braelon Brown, Jamazzeo Dequan Glover, Jaylin Hill, Tyreke McMahan, and David Mosley. Court documents and witness statements name Braelon Brown as the person who allegedly fired the fatal shot. At least one of the suspects, Jamazzeo Glover, was on bond for a prior armed robbery and under GPS monitoring at the time. Some parents of minors involved were later named in a civil lawsuit by Kerolos’s family.

Are there readers who knew Kerolos or who have information about what happened that night?
