Daniel Danny Jimenez, 23, was shot dead in the parking lot of the Belton Wood Apartments on Howard Lane in Anderson, South Carolina, on the night of December 2, 2019. He was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to his head and torso after a confrontation that involved three people on foot and four people in a vehicle; an exchange of gunfire followed, and one companion of Jimenez was also injured.
Investigators initially could not determine which side fired the fatal shot and considered whether it might have been friendly fire. Within days two arrests were made: Jimenez’s 17-year-old brother, Carlos Andres Jimenez, and 19-year-old Zachary Brian Thomas Tost. Both were charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. At a bond hearing both defendants and their families said they had acted in self-defense, but a judge denied bond because of the seriousness of the charges.
Who else was present that night or has information about the confrontation at the Belton Wood Apartments?
