Adam Vazquez, 39, was fatally shot on October 31, 2019, in Greer, South Carolina. The former Sonny’s Grill chef and father of two was in his Ford Explorer at the Speedwash Laundromat on Arlington Road when he was first shot around 6:25 p.m. He was struck again as he tried to flee, collapsing about 50 feet from his vehicle. Witnesses provided first aid, but Vazquez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Spartanburg County Coroner.

The Greer Police Department identified a suspect and on December 6, 2019, arrested 40-year-old Kevin Choice, also known as Calvin Choice, of Greenville. Choice was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime; arrest warrants allege he fired the shots that killed Vazquez. Investigators said the case remained active and expected additional arrests and asked the community for information.
