Nathaniel Johnson II, 41, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the La Petite Academy daycare in Taylors, South Carolina, on the morning of September 30, 2019. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office determined the shooting occurred across the street from the daycare after Johnson drove to the home of 29-year-old Nikia Allen, where an altercation left Johnson fatally shot.

Allen reportedly sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the incident and was later arrested after a 911 call was placed on his behalf. Investigators say Allen stole Johnson’s car after the shooting. The motive for the deadly confrontation between two families who had been friends for more than a decade has not been disclosed.

Those who knew Johnson described him as a beloved man with a big heart who helped others, including Allen and Allen’s mother. Johnson is survived by his children and a fiancée; his mother, Reverend Ruth Williams, said she forgave Allen but wanted justice. Does anyone have information about what led to the altercation that morning?
