On the evening of July 25, 2019, 46-year-old Gregorio Zarate Chun and 25-year-old Diego Alonzo Teletor were ambushed outside a residence on Bowman Drive in Sumter, South Carolina. Witnesses reported three men dressed in black approached the pair, brandished handguns and opened fire shortly before 10:15 p.m. Teletor was pronounced dead at the scene; Chun was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital and later died from his gunshot wounds.
Investigators treated the attack as an attempted armed robbery and noted a string of recent robberies targeting Hispanic men in the area, prompting the Sumter Police Department to open a tips hotline staffed with Spanish-speaking officers. Two suspects were arrested: 33-year-old Kelvin Bell and a 17-year-old male, each charged with two counts of murder, and authorities sought to try the juvenile as an adult.
Are there witnesses or neighbors who remember activity near Bowman Drive that night or can share information about the pattern of robberies mentioned?
