Robert Clark Jr., 22, was found dead in his Toyota Tundra behind the Target in Bluffton, South Carolina, on the morning of February 21, 2019. A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputy on patrol identified the vehicle as matching the truck reported missing, and a license plate check linked it to Clark. Investigators discovered Clark inside the truck with what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound; a handgun was recovered inside the vehicle.

Clark had last been seen the Monday morning of that week, and his family’s last contact with him was an exchange of text messages that same afternoon. The area behind the store was secured and an autopsy was scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina to establish the official cause and manner of death. Law enforcement said they did not believe there was any threat to the public, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation. No arrests or suspect identifications have been announced.
