Belton Vindever Dandy, 39, was found dead inside an apartment at the Camp Croft Courts on Hanover Place in Spartanburg, South Carolina on January 1, 2019. The Spartanburg Police Department and the coroner determined Dandy had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide. Family and community members expressed shock and grief at the news.
Investigators identified a person of interest, Brandon A. Arledge, described as a longtime family friend who had known Dandy since childhood. Police say a social media feud between the two — including threats exchanged on Facebook Live in the weeks beforehand — escalated into a confrontation at the apartment complex. A baseball hat found next to Dandy’s body was forensically linked to Arledge. He was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime; bond was denied at his initial court appearance.
Does anyone have information about Dandy’s last known movements or about the dispute that preceded the shooting?
