Brandon Nathan Tyson was 17 when he was shot and killed on a September night in 2018 after leaving a high school football game with friends. The group went to a home in Anderson County. Witnesses say Tyson began acting erratically, smashing a garage door window and throwing furniture, which drew the attention of the homeowner, Mark Chastain, father of one of the teens.

An argument became a physical fight; the homeowner suffered facial injuries and then fatally shot Tyson. An autopsy found a gunshot wound to the head and a superficial gunshot wound to the neck. Toxicology detected psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana in Tyson’s system. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office investigated and ultimately did not file criminal charges, with the shooting reported as self-defense under South Carolina’s Castle Doctrine. A civil lawsuit against the homeowner was later settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

If anyone attended that game or was at the house that night, did you see what led up to the confrontation or the moments afterward?
