David Stephen Silvey, 63, was killed after an argument over a parked car in the Buffalo community of Union County, South Carolina. On Sunday, August 19, 2018, Silvey was riding a four-wheeler when he became involved in a verbal dispute with a man he did not know, later identified as 27-year-old Joshua McKenzie Miles. The disagreement concerned a vehicle blocking a back alley that belonged to neither man.
Deputies were responding to calls about a man on a four-wheeler pointing a gun at people when shots were fired before law enforcement arrived. Deputies found Silvey lying on the road beside his four-wheeler; he had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. A reserve deputy took Miles into custody shortly afterward. He was arrested on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and was taken to the Union County Detention Center, where bond was denied.
Did anyone in the Buffalo community witness the dispute or the moments before the shooting?
