Dewitt Francis Cohen, 38, was shot and killed in North Charleston, South Carolina, on the evening of Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Emergency crews found him with life-threatening injuries; he was pronounced dead after attempts at medical care. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.

Cohen was a husband and father, survived by his wife, children, parents and siblings. The North Charleston Police Department opened an investigation and asked the public for help, but public information about suspects or persons of interest has been scarce and no arrests have been announced.
