On August 5, 2018, Harold Hutzler, 54, was shot and killed inside his North Charleston, South Carolina, home during a home invasion. Multiple men wearing ski masks forced their way into the residence while Hutzler and others were playing cards; Hutzler was fatally shot during the incident.

North Charleston police later identified a suspect and in October 2018 arrested 24-year-old Elijah Prioleau Jr. of Charleston. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime; police reported seeing him riding a bicycle when he was located.
