Matthew Shane Autry, 29, was killed on July 27, 2018, in a violent double homicide in the Socastee area near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Authorities described the killing as drug-related, while his family says Autry was not involved with drugs and had simply accepted a ride that day from the other victim, 35-year-old Shawn Anderson. Autry reportedly texted a friend that he had found a ride and would be there soon shortly before the killings.

Both Autry and Anderson were shot and stabbed. Their bodies were placed in a car that was taken to an area off Butler Road near Enterprise Road and set on fire; the burned vehicle with their remains inside prompted the homicide investigation. Multiple people were charged in connection with the case, and some defendants later entered pleas and received sentences. Autry’s family has been left grieving, including a young daughter who had been awaiting his return for her seventh birthday.

If anyone knew Matthew, his movements that day, or has information about the killings, please share what is known.
