Sylvester Lee Bellamy Jr, 24, was fatally shot on the evening of June 8, 2018, in a public restroom near Ocean Boulevard and 12th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He had been in the city only hours earlier for a new job when the ambush occurred during the opening of the Carolina Country Music Festival. Bellamy was unarmed; he was found with multiple gunshot wounds, taken to a hospital, and later died.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and, within about ninety minutes, located two men leaving the area. Terence Isacc Blackwell and Earl Rafel Gaddis Jr., both from North Carolina, were detained and found in possession of the weapons used in the shooting. Blackwell faced charges including murder and weapons offenses; Gaddis faced murder, weapons, and drug-related charges, and was later charged with another murder in North Carolina while out on bond.
