Three-year-old Aiden Martin died from a gunshot wound sustained in Walterboro, South Carolina. The shooting occurred the night of May 4, 2018, when a sudden pop was heard at about 11:30 p.m. in the kitchen of a mobile home on Robinson Road. Aiden was found shortly after and was taken first to Colleton Medical Center in his father’s vehicle and then airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he died on May 5, 2018.
Aiden was at home with his father, Allen Michael Martin, and several other adults were reportedly present. Authorities initially described the death as accidental based on preliminary findings, but the investigation continued. On May 15, 2018, 28-year-old Allen Michael Martin was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child for allegedly placing his son in unreasonable risk of harm. Aiden’s mother, Arika Williams, has expressed disbelief that no one in the house knew what happened.
Did anyone in Walterboro hear or see anything that night that could clarify how the child gained access to the firearm?
