Tidrekis Daquan Gary was a 15-year-old ninth grader from Greenwood, South Carolina, who was shot and killed on the evening of April 4, 2018. Officers responding to reports of shots fired in the Fairfield and Winns apartment complex area—near Tennessee Court and Ohio Court—found people fleeing and a juvenile wounded by gunfire. Gary was taken to Self Regional Hospital and pronounced dead.

In the hours after the shooting, witnesses were reported as scattered and reluctant, and an officer chased a potential suspect who could not be caught at the scene. Nearly two weeks later police arrested a teenage suspect; early reports withheld the name because he was a juvenile. Authorities later identified the suspect as De’andrevious Williams of Abbeville, who was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and was arraigned under state law. Gary’s obituary noted he was part of a large family and that funeral services were held in Greenwood.
