David Joseph Leo, 64, was found dead in his Duncan, South Carolina, home on Robin Lake Road on April 2, 2018, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The Spartanburg County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after 11 a.m. that Monday morning.
The initial 911 call came from a woman identifying herself as Leo’s wife who said she had accidentally shot him twice. Deputies identified the caller as 58-year-old Donna Marie Leo and charged her with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. At a bond hearing Donna Leo alleged years of mental and physical abuse by her husband and said she reached a breaking point that morning. Investigators reported no physical evidence of an assault in the home and no prior domestic violence calls to the couple’s residence in official records.
Donna Leo was booked into the Spartanburg County jail as the investigation continued. Did anyone in Duncan know the Leos well enough to shed light on their relationship or what happened that morning?
