Eric Shane Morris, 29, was found dead in a residence on Old Canaan Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina on February 18, 2018. Born January 20, 1989, he was a Dorman High School graduate and had worked at Morris Heating and Air for eleven years. He was survived by his parents John and Linda Burnette Morris, siblings Rusty Vance and Crystal Lowe, and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.
Investigators say a gathering for mechanical work turned violent when 19-year-old Brian Cornelius Foster of Spartanburg opened fire. Another person was shot but escaped, reached a neighbor for help, and provided information that helped identify Foster. Foster was captured two days later hiding under a shed on Bayberry Drive after discarding his clothing; he had prior convictions for second-degree burglary, grand larceny, and driving under the influence.
At a three-day jury trial in April 2019 Foster was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful possession of a weapon, and was sentenced to life without parole. Does anyone have information about Eric or that gathering that could shed light on what sparked the violence?
