Broderick Cortez Goodman, a 30-year-old Black man, was found with gunshot wounds and died after being taken to a hospital on a Friday night in February 2018 in Florence, South Carolina. The shooting prompted a multiagency investigation involving the Florence Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Within days investigators identified four people connected to the case. Two adults, Dayshawn Deas and Ty’sheed Michad Zimmerman, both 19 at the time, were arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Two juvenile males, aged 16 and 17, were also taken into custody and charged with murder; all four were later charged with criminal conspiracy. The motive has not been made public.
Does anyone who knew Broderick or was in Florence at the time have information that could shed light on what happened that night?
