Michael Waylon Goettsch, a 35-year-old white male, was found dead in his Carmon Street home in Summerville, South Carolina, in the early morning of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. The discovery at about 4:30 a.m. led the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office to open an intensive homicide investigation. The Dorchester County Coroner ruled the death a homicide from a gunshot wound, and an autopsy was ordered at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the shooting, and no arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced. The investigation remains open and unresolved, and the family and community continue to seek answers.
