Otto Thomas Mahsetky Jr., 23, was fatally shot at a residence on Cloverhill Drive in Anderson County, South Carolina, on a Monday afternoon in March 2017. The fatal wound occurred during a domestic confrontation at the family home after Mahsetky reportedly threatened his sister while armed with an ax.
The Anderson County Coroner reported Mahsetky had been experiencing mental instability and had become violent; his troubles included a recent job loss and the death of his father five years earlier. The family had moved to Anderson County from Florida after the father's death.
The 10th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office reviewed the circumstances and concluded the sister acted in self-defense, declined to file charges, and ruled the shooting a justifiable homicide. Does anyone have information about Otto’s life in Anderson County or the events leading up to that day?
