Rodney Steven Isaac was 23 when he was shot dead in West Columbia, South Carolina, on the morning of February 8, 2017. Evidence from Pearson’s cell phone and Facebook messages indicated he sought others to shoot Isaac in retaliation after Pearson himself had been shot in a drive-by about three weeks earlier; one message sent about twelve hours before the killing suggested something would happen when he saw Isaac on Princeton Road. A witness reported Pearson fled in his sister’s Honda Accord with a dog inside and provided the plate number.
