Meagan Leigh McCraw-Coxie was 25 when she and her husband, Johnny Joe Coxie, disappeared after being released from jail in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, in December 2015. Meagan spoke to her mother asking to be bailed out and saying there was a job lined up; after that call the couple stopped communicating and were reported missing.
Nearly a year later investigators searching a large property in Woodruff, South Carolina, owned by real estate agent Todd Kohlhepp recovered human remains. Dental records and distinctive tattoos identified the remains as those of Meagan and Johnny Coxie. An autopsy determined Meagan died of a gunshot wound to the head and Johnny Coxie was shot in the torso; both deaths were ruled homicides.
Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender arrested after Kala Brown was found alive on his property, confessed to the Coxies deaths and to other killings, and was charged with multiple counts of murder and kidnapping.
