Charles David Carver, 32, disappeared on August 31, 2016, after going to a large property in Woodruff, South Carolina, for a cleaning job with his girlfriend, Kala Brown. Brown later said that property owner Todd Kohlhepp shot Carver in her presence. The coroner’s report confirmed Carver died from multiple gunshot wounds.
For two months the couple’s whereabouts were unknown while unusual posts appeared on Carver’s Facebook page. On November 3, 2016, investigators tracing the couple’s last cellphone signals went to the Woodruff property and found Kala Brown alive, chained by her neck and ankle inside a metal storage container. They also discovered Carver’s vehicle in a ravine and recovered his body in a shallow grave, findings that matched Brown’s account.
The arrest of the property owner followed Brown’s rescue and the discoveries on the land. Anyone with information about Carver, where he worked, or his movements before August 31, 2016, is asked to come forward.
