George Kevin Rush, 60, was shot to death at his home in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on the morning of August 1, 2016. A North Spartanburg Fire Department commissioner and husband, Rush was found with a fatal gunshot wound under the carport of his residence shortly before 6 a.m. His wife discovered him after the shot.
A 16-year-old male was found standing nearby and was taken into custody. Investigators determined the firearm used belonged to Rush, and reports later indicated the teenager was believed to have been under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug at the time.
Does anyone have firsthand information about the scene that morning or about Rush’s life in the Spartanburg community?
