On the evening of July 23, 2016, a gathering on Warren Street in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, ended in gunfire. Twenty-six-year-old Dameion Hakeem Alston and 27-year-old Marquis Jamal Burgess were both shot and taken to Grand Strand Medical Center; Alston was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m. Both victims’ wounds proved fatal.

Investigators focused on 29-year-old Calvin Derrell Ford after witnesses said a verbal altercation between Ford and Burgess escalated and Ford allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking both men. GPS monitoring records placed Burgess and Ford at the scene; Ford was arrested the next day. He was charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Aliga Campbell also faced two counts of murder and weapons charges in connection with the killings. A judge denied Ford’s motion to dismiss under South Carolina’s Stand Your Ground law, allowing the case to proceed to trial.

Does anyone have additional information about the night on Warren Street or knew Dameion Alston?
