Karriem Imran Mitchell, 32, was shot after an argument at the Max Quicks stop on McMillan Avenue in North Charleston, South Carolina, on June 3, 2016. Emergency services arrived just before 10:30 a.m.; Mitchell was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina but died of his injuries.
Witnesses said the shooter fled immediately. North Charleston police searched the nearby Horizon Village neighborhood with officers, K-9 units, and a helicopter, and a standoff occurred at an apartment building, but the suspect was not found. No arrests have been reported in connection with Mitchell’s death, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
The dispute that led to gunfire and the lack of resolution have left Mitchell’s family without answers. If anyone witnessed the shooting or has information about who fled that morning, please come forward to the North Charleston Police Department.
