Tomena Gail Ford, 33, was shot and killed in Florence, South Carolina, in May 2016 while eight months pregnant. The shooting also ended the life of her unborn child. Her fiancé, 33-year-old Darkell Foreman, called 911 after the shooting and told the dispatcher he had shot Ford, saying she had been disloyal and asking for an ambulance for his fiancée and the baby.
Foreman was arrested and charged with the murders of Tomena and her unborn child. At trial his attorney argued Foreman suffered from severe depression and bipolar disorder and had tried to seek help beforehand; prosecutors said those claims were an attempt to excuse his actions. A jury found Darkell Foreman guilty but mentally ill. He received a 30-year prison term for the murders and an additional five years for a weapons charge, for a total of 35 years to be served in a South Carolina Department of Corrections facility.
Did anyone in Florence have contact with Tomena or her family in 2016 who can share details about her life or the circumstances leading up to May?
