Edy Peter Boudagh, 45, was killed on the morning of Monday, May 16, 2016, during an armed robbery at his store, Loris Market & Beverages, in Loris, South Carolina. Known in the community for his kindness and for handing out Bibles to children, he was described as a bright shining light and his death left the town in mourning.
Two men from North Carolina, Jonathan Stefan Vanderhorst and Jim Miller, entered the store intending to rob it while a third man, Demetrius Altman, served as their driver. Surveillance footage showed Vanderhorst fire a warning shot into the ceiling and shoot at Boudagh’s wife (the shot missed). Boudagh handed over money, but Vanderhorst then fired two shots that fatally wounded him. The suspects fled and a multi-agency manhunt followed, leading to arrests; Miller, then 26, and Vanderhorst, then 21, were charged with murder, armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, and weapons possession during a violent crime.
Did anyone in Loris have interactions with Edy or remember the day that could add details about what happened?
