A dispute that began on social media ended in a fatal shooting in Easley in the winter of 2016. Seventeen-year-old Kejuan Mitchell Brown was shot in the chest outside Tri-City Lanes on the evening of February 17 and was pronounced dead at the scene. The argument reportedly culminated in a planned physical confrontation at the bowling alley and escalated to gunfire.
Officers soon located a vehicle matching witness descriptions at a nearby gas station and arrested four people. Those taken into custody were 18-year-old Ja’mari Trayvar Fair, 19-year-old Dennis Ezell Gibbs, 22-year-old Albert Lavern Taylor, and a 15-year-old juvenile; all were charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Reports identify Albert Lavern Taylor as the shooter; in January 2018 he received a 32-year sentence, and in February 2018 Dennis Ezell Gibbs Jr. pleaded to accessory after the fact and received 15 years.
If anyone knew Kejuan, was at Tri-City Lanes that night, or has information about the events leading up to the shooting, please share what is known.
