Devante Smiley was 23 when he was shot at a club on Scott-White Road in Hollywood, South Carolina, in the early hours of a Sunday in January 2016. The altercation left him with fatal injuries and another person with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Smiley was not taken directly to a hospital after the shooting but was brought to a residence on South Carolina Highway 162, where someone called law enforcement. Deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office found him on the ground and emergency crews transported him to St. Francis Hospital. He later died; the other victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation and described the motive as unknown, with no suspects publicly identified at the time. Does anyone have information about that night or about Devante that could help the investigation?
