Four members of a Pendleton family were found murdered in their Refuge Road home in late 2015, in a case that shocked the small community. On November 2, 2015, 58-year-old Terry Michael Scott, his 60-year-old wife Cathy Scott, his 80-year-old mother Barbara Scott, and his 85-year-old mother-in-law Violet Taylor were discovered dead. Investigators described extreme violence at the scene and no signs of forced entry, suggesting the victims may have known their attacker.
Officials reported that Terry, Barbara, and Violet had their throats slashed and were also shot after death, while Cathy suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest and was shot while still alive. A bowl of Halloween candy left untouched near the door led authorities to believe the murders could have occurred as early as October 31, 2015.
In December 2023 authorities arrested Terry’s stepdaughter Amy Vilardi, 40, and her husband Rosmore Ross Vilardi, 36, charging them with four counts of murder. The couple, who had lived on the same property and were subjects of early interest in the investigation, were also accused of forgery and attempts to claim ownership of vehicles and other assets belonging to the victims. Amy and Ross Vilardi were denied bond and remained in the Anderson County detention center.
Did anyone in the Pendleton area know the family dynamics on that property or have information about activity around Halloween 2015?
