Jose Antonio ’Alex’ Guerrero Cano, 23, was found dead inside a shared home on Steele Drive in West Columbia on October 12, 2015. An autopsy showed multiple gunshot wounds, the fatal wound striking his heart. He left behind a wife and two children.

Originally from Mexico, Guerrero Cano was reported by his brother to be an undocumented immigrant working at the San Jose Restaurant in Lexington. The death was classified as a homicide and investigators arrested and charged a housemate, Jeremy Junior Head, who was held at the Lexington County Detention Center. The motive had not been released as the case moved through the legal system.
