Latron Lewis, 30, was shot and killed on August 30, 2015, in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn & Suites on 21st Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The shooting followed a heated argument between Lewis and another man, identified as Darrell Deas, reportedly about Lewis’s teenage son. A hotel employee who came out after a guest complained said they saw Deas trying to walk away and get into his car, Lewis following and reaching into Deas’s vehicle, and then a single gunshot that struck Lewis.
Law enforcement named Deas as the suspect and arrested him on a murder charge. Deas later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter; his defense argued the shooting was an act of self-defense and a witness said Lewis may have been reaching for a gun when he was shot.
Did anyone who knew Latron or who was at the hotel that morning see what happened or have additional information about the argument?
