Eugene Marshall Delong III, 28, was shot and killed inside his Loris, South Carolina, home in the early morning of May 9, 2015. The shooting occurred in the living room of his residence on Bill Grissett Road; the deputy coroner gave the time of death as about 2:45 a.m. Authorities have said an unknown intruder entered the home and that robbery is believed to have been the motive.

The Horry County Police Department opened a homicide investigation but has not made an arrest. Detectives describe the case as cold, citing a lack of witnesses and concrete evidence that has hindered progress. Family and friends remain without closure as investigators continue to seek information.
