A dispute over the division of stolen goods turned deadly in West Columbia, South Carolina. Steven Lee Boone, 41, was shot and killed on September 25, 2014, after arguing with Anthony Wayne Jeffcoat, 36, about how to split items from a series of recent home burglaries. The confrontation reportedly took place outside a shed on Gulf Court where Jeffcoat had been staying. Boone sustained a single, fatal gunshot wound.

Jeffcoat fled the scene after the shooting but later contacted law enforcement and arranged to surrender. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center and charged with Boone’s murder as the investigation into the homicide and the related burglaries continued.
