Stephen Allen Morris, 63, was found dead at his home on West Woodlawn Avenue in North Augusta, South Carolina, on September 1, 2014, from a gunshot wound to the head. The death was initially reported as a possible suicide, but investigators later reclassified it as a homicide based on evidence recovered at the scene and during the inquiry.
Authorities focused their investigation on Stephen’s wife, Debra Lynn Morris. She was arrested and charged with murder and with possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. During questioning she admitted to shooting her husband and attributed the act to ongoing marital problems.
Friends and family have been left to reckon with a sudden, violent death that investigators say was not self-inflicted. Did anyone in the North Augusta area see or hear anything on September 1, 2014, that could shed light on what happened?
