In the early morning of Sunday, March 16, 2014, a fight outside Club Miami on Broad Street Extension in Sumter, South Carolina, ended with 33-year-old Tyrus Archie shot once in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 3 a.m. after reports of a disturbance. A second man, 26-year-old Rayquann Mondell Jenkins, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his leg and was airlifted to a hospital.
Witnesses described an alleged shooter who fled into a nearby field; deputies pursued and apprehended 31-year-old Rodney Rodriuguz Green of Rembert. Green was arrested and charged with the murder of Tyrus Archie and the attempted murder of Jenkins, and held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center. A jury later convicted Green and sentenced him to life in prison. The nightclub’s recurring problems contributed to efforts that led to its closure.
Did anyone have information about interactions at Club Miami that night or know Tyrus Archie’s movements before the shooting?
