On February 6, 2014, 18-year-old Johnté Shaheed Holliday was shot dead during a home invasion at his uncle’s house on Furse Road in Summerton, South Carolina. Holliday had returned to Clarendon County from North Carolina to look for work to support his pregnant girlfriend. Just after midnight he opened the door to two men he believed were acquaintances of his uncle; once inside the men produced weapons and demanded money. Shots were fired and Holliday was struck twice in the chest. He was taken to Clarendon Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead. The assailants fled with a shotgun and Holliday’s uncle was reportedly struck during the incident.
On February 11, 2014, 23-year-old Anthony Thomas James was arrested and charged with murder. Investigators also released a composite sketch of a second suspect described as a dark-complexioned man about 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, who remained at large. The victim’s son, Johnte Jr., was born a few months after the killing. Has anyone in the Summerton area seen or heard anything that could identify the second man involved?
