On the evening of January 18, 2014, 27-year-old Tyrice Washington of Seabrook, South Carolina, was brought to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with a fatal gunshot wound and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The man who dropped him off, 21-year-old Quinton Delaney Jr., reportedly shouted that his friend had been shot and left in a white Chevrolet Tahoe. Hospital staff could not save Washington.
Beaufort City patrol units stopped that same white Chevrolet Tahoe minutes later on Highway 21 and found a handgun in plain view on the vehicle floor. Delaney was arrested initially on traffic and weapons charges. A Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigation concluded Washington and Delaney had been drinking together in a parked vehicle on Delaney Circle, were handling firearms, and that a disagreement led investigators to believe Delaney shot Washington. Delaney was charged with Washington’s murder and held at the county detention center.
Are there witnesses or information about what happened on Delaney Circle that evening?
