Taijay Brian Daniels, 24, was killed in Cambridge, Maryland, on the evening of December 8, 2022. Authorities say the shooting occurred near Pleasant and Race Streets at about 7:15 p.m. during what is described as an armed robbery; Daniels suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Police released a description of a suspect — a male wearing a black jacket, dark jeans, black shoes and carrying a black book bag — and the next night located a man who matched that description on High Street. Officers say the man, later identified as 22-year-old Tramelle Lamar Williams, fled and was chased on foot; during the pursuit he allegedly brandished a handgun and an officer fired, striking him. Williams was taken into custody and later charged with first- and second-degree murder and other counts in connection with Daniels’s death.
