Aden Christopher Garcia, 19, was shot multiple times while seated in a car on Albermarle Place in Waldorf, Maryland, on October 23, 2022. He was driven to a hospital in Prince George’s County and died of his injuries the following day. Investigators determined the attack was not random.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office identified two suspects. In November 2022 they named 22-year-old Jontez Davon Dorsey of Waldorf as the suspected shooter; Dorsey was arrested in December 2022 and charged with murder. The probe continued and in August 2023 authorities arrested 22-year-old Ricardo Kevon Colbert-Lyles of Waldorf, charging him with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related offenses. Investigators say the shooting grew out of a planned drug transaction that failed, after which Colbert-Lyles and another suspect followed Garcia and the shooting occurred.
